<lj:music>Within Temptation - All I Need</lj:music>

Bleh.

So the semester was finally over about a month ago. First year done, going to get myself into the supposedly roughest year of TAB. Hopefully I'll rest enough this summer to NOT start the next semester already feeling like a zombie. So far... not so good. Nestlé's a drag again, it always has been but as normal as it probably is, the job just gets shittier and more boring with the passing years. The first year was alright, the second one was passable, last year was total crap and now I just want to shoot down that freaking place. Maybe I'll put it on fire... but it's hard to start a fire at -32 Celcius. Freaking giant freezer.

But anyway. At least I got some good news yesterday: I've been accepted for a place at Rosemont's college's dorms! Hurrays. I'll finally live on my freaking own, with no annoying dog barking at passing flies because he feels like making people's ears numb and make my blood pressure hit the roof. No mother or sister waking me up at 8am when I work night shifts because they talk too loud and they don't care that I do need to sleep; well, I don't know if they care or not, but I sure as hell know they talk loud in the morning. The only possible problem with dorms is that I'll have many neighbours, all students too, and God knows people can be idiots a lot of the time. But as I said to my friend JP: "If people start pissing me off by being loud, I'm going to blast them metal music". So if they don't shut up, I'll just put my computer's speakers on the wall I share with these idiots(or floor... could be under my room too) and I'm going to put the loudest, most growl-ish/scream-ish music I have. And if that doesn't work.... I'll punch them square in the face. =D

But anyway... Yeah, summer so far doesn't look all that promising as I hinted above. Job sucks, people don't let me sleep that much and I probably won't get to go to JF and Karine's place at all(sorry...). I really wish I could get some time, but obviously Maude(girlfriend) pretty much reserved me for the whole month of July. This week I'm going at JP's place, then the week after is Maude's birthday part one, because she's going to do a shared birthday with her friend Eve and this is all going to be with her high school friends. Then the week after, it's Maude's birthday part 2, with our college friends. Then the last week of July/first of August, I promised a friend of mine that I'd go to the Otakuthon this year with her since it's been a while since we saw eachother and stuff happened in her life, I thought it'd be nice to go with her.
So yeah. JF, Karine... I probably won't come around 'til August. I'm sorry. If I can find some time before that though, I'll let you know.
Reminds me I should do something with Marc-André too.

Well anyway, that's the brief update and what my summer will look like. Summarized again: work, girlfriend, somewhat sleep, a bit of gaming annnnd work again.
[/rant]

    <lj:music>Raunchy - The Bash</lj:music>

A few hours ago, I stepped out of the movie theater after watching the highly anticipated and highly over-rated Watchmen with my girlfriend. Let me tell you if you plan on going there and haven't seen it yet: you'll get out with a rather bitter aftertaste. Yes, you've pretty much guessed it, this post will be another(probably) long rant about the movie. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.

I'll start with talking about what I think are the good points of the movie, because it will be a lot shorter. One thing that was kinda good was the humor, some jokes were pretty funny, but not all of them. Not much to say about that... The big positive point of the movie, in my opinion, is and only is Rorschach(http://www.evanskey.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/watch-rorschach.jpg). The guy is the only character who actually brings the story somewhere, as he investigate on a suspicious murder and some other stuff. He's about the only character with some depth, seriously, and well... He kills people! Criminals, to be precise. =D Anyway, he's got this pretty badass attitude that fits him well, and his outfit is just awesome: nothing special or flashy, just a weird mask, cool hat and classic trench coat. Anyway, that guy pretty much made the movie on his own.

Now the bad part... Well, most of the characters were pretty much the problem of the movie. You got a chick with no depth, only there for the hot factor and for heterosexual sex scenes, literarly. She was just... I don't know, she didn't have any depth. If you thought Megan Fox was bad in Transformers, well Malin Akerman didn't do a better job in Watchmen. Second, that Jon character, aka Dr.Manhattan(what a superhero name...) ... what the hell? He's like worse than Superman, only with even LESS personality! Seriously, that character has NO personality; he knows all, and don't give a shit. That's what he does. Then there's Adrian Veidt, the supposed "villan" of the movie. I have nothing against homosexuals at all, but this guy gets on my nerves. His arrogance is seriously off the charts, he's all-brilliant all-rich guy... Wait, I remember something like that... Oh yeah, 1970s hero named IRON MAN. He's seriously a gay cheapass vegetarian rip off of Tony Stark who can't pull off the attitude correctly; instead of being arrogant, but still lovable, he's just an asshole. Then there's Nite Owl(Daniel). Well... I don't have anything to complain about this guy. He's the usual good-guy stereotyped guy, like Captain America. He's going to do whatever to save people, and walk straight; he was a nice character to have around. Oh yeah, there's the Comedian too, whom I'm glad died at the beginning of the movie. Thank. Fucking. God.

On top of poor characters, the story starts EXTREMELY slow. I found myself rather bored for about an hour from the movie it had so much talking, so much past history that you personally don't give a damn. It's fun to know about a character's past life, but not the god damn history of the USA: most people know about it, most people don't give a fuck. Get on with the real movie. That the Comedian killed JFK only adds to the fact he's an asshole, it doesn't add to the main story, no need for a 2 minutes+ sequence about it with no speech whatsoever. There again, Rorschach to the rescue. For the first half of the movie, the only times it was remotely interesting was when Rorschach was around, either doing some investigating and being badass, or just kicking some dude's butt(with a good reason, please). As I said earlier, he's the only one who wasn't a fucking pussy and went out there to get some info and get his hands a little dirty. The other heroes were too busy shitting their pants because they were afraid or having sex.

Oh yeah, third thing that was bad about this movie: the sex scenes. There were only two and a half. Why a half? Because we almost got a rape scene from the Comedian on his friend, when another dude I don't know the name burst in and kicks the Comedian's ass(was pretty nice to see). The two other sex scenes were between the second Silk Spector and Nite Owl. The first one was fine, but the second one was... really uncalled for. They save people from a fire, get horny, fuck in the ship. It would have been alright to only know they did it... NOT SEE IT! If anyone in the audience thought that scene was hot, well they were fucking morons(sorry if you thought it was). There's better porn on the internet for free than that scene. We seriously didn't need to see both actors naked, fake-moaning and humping the crap out of eachother. There's something you can learn from Iron Man: you make a scene where both STILL HAVE THEIR CLOTHES ON and are kissing, they fall of the bed, and you skip to the next morning. We're not stupid, we KNOW what happened, we don't need to see it. It takes a nice few minutes you could have put on the real fucking story, not just some bad half-assed porn scene for the desperate and horny nerd.

Anyway... Conclusion: Watchmen is pretty much a bitter-sweet movie. You'll like some parts(hail to Rorschach) and hate some others. You'll get out of the theater with a bitter taste, and probably will be confused about weither you truly liked it or not. The first half of the movie is boring, except for some parts, and when Silk Spector and Nite Owl finally decide to put on their suit, it gets more interesting.... But the end is extremely, horribly unsatisfying. Watchmen is alright, but it got way too over-hyped(just like another DC movie... oh wait, The Dark Knight? *eye roll*) and got way too much undeserved attention. If you're looking forward to a REAL good movie, look forward to X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Marvel > DC
Always have been this way, always will be.

    <lj:music>myGrain - Killing Time</lj:music>

That's right. I know not many of you actually care about the Oscars, let alone about what people think of the Oscar, but I really just need to take this off my chest, I've bottled up about this annual piece of mediatic shit for too long. That fucking pile of over-rated dog vomit journalists, critics and even most people consider to be proof, real facts that a movie's better than an other is a fucking joke. Why? Here's why(warning: lot of whining and bitching ahead; post might be extremely long).

For the past few years, I've started to take more interest into movies. Of course, most people like to watch a good movie, but my interests are going furthur than just sitting there and watch some action, comedy or whatever. The more it goes, the more I like to look into a movie's details: is the story right? Does the movie makes some slight sense in this presented universe? Is what's going on well explained? How's the sound, the lighting, the visual effects? Is this really a quality movie? And well, most of all of course, is it really entertaining? So, you might say I've become an amateur critic of movies, so yes, I do take some kind of ''interest'' in the Oscars, but every year I find myself being so pissed off at that event that I want to kill anyone who's in charge of that bullshited fuckfest. I hate almost everything about this event... No, actually, I FUCKING hate EVERYTHING about that god damn event! Everything they do is so fucked, so biased... it feels like it's actually corrupted. Corrupted right to the core, and it most likely is.

For example, last year in the 'Visual Effects' category(which I'm guessing is a synonym for 'Special Effects'), two nominees got my attention: Transformers and The Golden Compass. Good picks, but to me the winner was very obvious: Transformers. Well guess what? I was wrong: The Golden Compass won. Why? Why did The Golden Compass win over Transformers? Well lets see...:

The Golden Compass has a giant talking polar bear you see basically all movie long, as well as animals known as 'daemons' who follow humans everywhere and talk(most of them do). There were also other mystical beings, such as some.. flying chick, a fairy I guess(can't remember too well). They were most likely all CGed beasts, and they were nicely done of course... But you know, I didn't feel like they were real. Something about the CGing just wasn't right, they still looked a bit too cartoony. So with that little problem, I had a bit of trouble really getting into the movie and getting into the mood that yeah, they were real!(Don't worry, I still enjoyed the movie)

Transformers on the other hand got... well, freaking huge badass transforming robots!! And there wasn't only one or two, there was about 13, if I'm not mistaking... Anywho, there were a few robots. And when you looked at them, gods did they look real! You could even see the background between two pipes of Optimus' legs! The special effects of that movie were outstanding and mind-blowing, it really got the audience into the universe and into the mood of the movie.

So... Why did Transformers lose to The Golden Compass? I'm... not sure. The golden dust from the compass was... impressive, I suppose? I really don't know. But hey! I let that one slide. I mean, yeah I was pissed that Transformers lost, but you see, that was my favorite movie of the year so obviously I was rooting for it, and it lost. Kind of a shock, so yeah I complained, but I thought my opinion might have been biaised and so I let it go.

But this year, man was this year just fucked up. Same category: 'Visual Effects'. Lets see the list of nominees:

- Iron Man
- The Dark Knight
- The Strange Case Of Benjamin Button

Psh, seriously? The choice here is definitely obvious. How could Iron Man lose to the two others? I mean, Dark Knight could be a close competitor, but it doesn't have that much special effects does it? Explosions, gun shots... Stuff you see in a regular action movie, y'know? Oh yeah, the Batmobile(more like Battank, imo). But still, Iron Man? Please, how can you compete against not one, but actually three suit of armor(counting the second and third Iron Man together). Three suits flying, firing bullets and missiles(there, got to Dark Knight's level), firing beams of light(repulsors), flying, racing jets, machines putting on parts of Iron Man on Tony Stark, two suits fighting, the Arc Reactor blowing up... Gods, that movie as so many special effects! And all really awesome ones! The choice is obvious: Iron Man.

But NO! I was wrong again! Iron Man didn't win the 'Visual Effects' category. Who did? ''The Dark Knight, probably...'' Well, let me tell you this: you're wrong too. The Strange Case Of Benjamin Button won the visual effects category. Hum............. major WHAT THE FUCK?! How can a freaking DRAMA movie beat not one, but TWO SUPERHERO movies?! Especially something like Iron Man! How does that make sense?!! Well, let's see... From what I've heard:

The Strange Case Of Benjamin Button is about some guy who's born old and well... as he grows he actually becomes physically younger. Ok, sounds like something you'd need some kind of 'effect' to pull off. Oh but lets see, do you need a computer for that? Hmm... NO! What you need is MAKEUP! Then HOW the FUCK did that movie even get into the Visual Effects category if all you fucking need is makeup?!! Please someone fucking tell me, 'cause I'm seriously thinking about murder right now(might have played Phoenix Wright a bit too much). So, Benjamin Button has a young-old guy turning old-young, all you need is makeup... Ok, lets see the other competitors.

The Dark Knight, you need explosions, guns and you have the Batmobile. There's also the shot where Joker sort of stabs a pencil in a guy's eye. Other than that... Fire. Oh right, Harvey's face also, since it's half burnt, but personally I wouldn't put it up here. Honnestly, his boney half face seriously sucked: looked like a cheap halloween toy. But anyway, yeah you do need special effects for that, to pull it all off and to make it feel 'real'. So yeah, Dark Knight belongs there and could have won, but still... Nothing that much out of the ordinary. Skelly face, you got Ghostrider for that; pencil in guy's eye, go watch your Friday the 13th movies, there are a lot of deaths that were more... inspired. Guns, fire, huge car and explosions are all stuff we've seen in other action movies.

Now for Iron Man... Well, read above, I've already pretty much mentionned what I could think of about it.

So now, can someone tell me why that fucking drama won over the two others, especially Iron Man? No sense. At. All.

Something else that bothers me. Everyone saw it coming, but I still have to point it out: Heath Ledger winning the supporting actor award. I mean.. Yeah, I do admit it, he was pretty awesome in his role but then again, he was very predictable. And well, what really made him so good was probably just the way he kept licking his lips. And when I really think about it, anyone who puts slight effort into acting could act a psycho, it's actually kinda easy. But anyway, I just feel he won that trophy because: 1) he's dead and it gave him a lot of undeserved and most likely unwanted mediatic attention; 2) The Dark Knight is personally the most over-rated movie I've heard of, but I'm not posting to debate weither The Dark Knight is over-rated or not, I'm posting to point out how Oscars is a shitty event.

Anyway, another thing(yeah, I'm not done), anyone else but me hates how they do things? I mean, why do they have to nominee the same movies TWICE in the same category? For example this year, in the 'Music(Song)' category, Slumdog Millionnaire comes up twice, and the only one against that movie is Wall-E with only one song. Oh yeah, sure, that gives Wall-E a lot of chance. Slumdog Millionnaire has 2/3 chances of whinning. How fucking fair is that? I'm sure there were other movies this year that had songs that were decent enough to -at least- be nominated. But no, fuck this, Slumdog Millionnaire twice 'cause... well, just 'cause. I honnestly believe they should only nominate movies ONE TIME in the same category. Pick the best of the two songs, who cares anyway, the best one of the two gonna win, no point in putting the two songs.

Speaking of limitations... Movies should really have a limit of nominations, or at least a limit of awards. I mean, lets take yet again this year as an example: on 24 categories, Slumdog Millionnaire won 7 awards. Not much, I know it's not even half of the number of categories, but 7 is still a fucking lot compared to the other movies, especially if you take out the animated movies, foreign movies and short movies. 7 awards on 21 possible categories, that's 1/3 of the possible awards to win. A close second for The Strange Case Of Benjamin Button, with 3 awards. So that's 10 out of 24, the 14 other awards were all one either one time by different movies, or 2 times for Milk and The Dark Knight. Yeah, so now that you've seen the numbers, how fair is that? You can also remember the year where the Lord Of The Rings: The Return of the King was nominated in 11 categories, and won all 11 awards. Yeah, sure, because there was ONLY that movie that was good that year. If there's no limitation, then I think we, the fans and the creators, actors, and whoever else worked on those movies, should have a right to get an explaination as to why this particular movie won for this particular category instead of having the same repetitive thank you speech that lasts two hours.

Anyway, fuck this. Fuck the Oscars, it's seriously a pile of over-rated, over-mediatized and over-corrupted piece of crap. Seriously, it sucks, always has and always will be. Sure I'm complaining now because my favored movies haven't won two years in a row, but you know, even if I didn't have any favorite movies and still paid attention to the Oscars, I would still have complained... just a slight less. If you don't believe me that the Oscars are a bunch of bullshit, fine, be my guest. But that's my opinion about it, and with what I've said up there I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, and I'm pretty sure that I've made a point.

(Sorry for the length of this post, I think you can clearly see how upset I was though)

Apparament j'sais pas comment faire ca. -_-

Faque pour JF, Karine et peut-etre Pascal s'il est intéressé: j'ai fait la premiere partie de l'histoire de Fox. Warning- C'est pas mal slow comme début, faque j'ai comme l'impression que ca risque d'etre emmerdant. J'espere juste faire mieux pour les parties a venir. >>;;

Pour les autres: amusez vous si vous voulez lire, mais ca risque d'etre une histoire plate pour vous. XD Sinon, faite juste skipper le long post. Désolé de la longueur.

    <lj:music>Scars On Braodway - Chemicals</lj:music>

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXHaCEhOiWU
